Baseball Game Preview: Parkville Knights vs. Catonsville Comets

The Parkville Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Catonsville Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Parkville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Parkville will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Perry Hall, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Knights came out on top against the Gators by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday. Six seems to be a good number for the Knights as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Parkville let Nick Rodriguez and Kiel Lewis run wild. Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Lewis went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Rodriguez has become a key player for Parkville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Catonsville unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Franklin by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Comets have suffered since March 21st.

Parkville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Catonsville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Parkville came out on top in a nail-biter against Catonsville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
