Basketball Recap: Jabari Washington's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Plantation over True North Classical Academy

On Monday, the Plantation Colonels came up short against the True North Classical Academy Titans and fell 73-64. While losing is never fun, the Colonels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Titans are ranked 143rd).

Plantation lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jabari Washington, who posted 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Washington is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sahmaj Alcime, who scored 19 points.

Boosie Swan was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 13 on his way to 27 points and five steals for True North Classical Academy. With that strong performance, Swan is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Quincy Douby Jr was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Plantation and nudges their season record down to 7-11. As for True North Classical Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plantation will take on Everglades at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Plantation is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season. As for True North Classical Academy, they will face off against Hialeah Educational Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. True North Classical Academy also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 60.8 points per game.
