Softball Recap: Indianapolis Lutheran Extends Winning Streak to Eight

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Indianapolis Lutheran had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Greenwood Christian Academy Cougars as they made off with a 14-0 win. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Zoe Sondag and Amelia Hughes did most of the damage at the plate: Sondag went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Hughes got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was Hughes' first of the season. Leyla Miller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Indianapolis Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwood Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .211.

The victory (which was Indianapolis Lutheran's eighth in a row) raised their record to 19-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Greenwood Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Indianapolis Lutheran has already played their next contest, a 17-4 victory against Indiana School for the Deaf on the 3rd. Greenwood Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
