On Friday, The St. Rita Mustangs faced the Brother Rice Crusaders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Rita ended up on the wrong side of a rough 42-21 walloping at the hands of Brother Rice. St. Rita was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brother Rice apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why St. Rita lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jimmie Maxson iii. Despite the final result, he picked up 174 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Maxson iii was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 61 yards.
St. Rita has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Brother Rice, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Rita will take on Chicago Mt. Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Chicago Mt. Carmel's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while St. Rita has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Brother Rice, they will face off against Batavia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Batavia is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
