Blanchester saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailie Bare, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another was Jocelyn Lansing, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Georgetown came into Thursday's matchup having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Felicity-Franklin on Thursday.
Ashley Mullins made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Mullins was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Georgetown let Carolyn Edmisten and Chloe Inlow run wild. Edmisten went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Inlow went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That triple was Edmisten's first of the season. Morgan Preston was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Georgetown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Georgetown's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Blanchester, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Georgetown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Blanchester has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. It's a different story for Georgetown, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Blanchester's hitters?
Blanchester might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Georgetown in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
