The Windermere Wolverines''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Ocoee, falling 52-21. While losing is never fun, Windermere can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Ocoee is ranked 113th).
Despite the loss, Windermere still got an impressive performance from Bryce Speed, who rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Speed was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Henry Rogers was another key contributor, rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ocoee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tavion Greaves, who picked up 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Joshua Guerrier, who rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Ocoee's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Michael Mcclenton.
Windermere's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. As for Ocoee, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windermere will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Ocoee, they will be playing at home against Dr. Phillips at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
