Basketball Recap: Pine Forest Skates Past Western Harnett with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pine Forest). They blew past the Western Harnett Eagles 78-39 on Tuesday. With the Trojans ahead 43-21 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pine Forest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Derek Green, who went 7 of 12 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, Green is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Baynes, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points along with five assists and five boards.

Pine Forest pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Western Harnett, they are on a 31-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Pine Forest will head out to challenge Terry Sanford at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Terry Sanford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. As for Western Harnett, they will host Overhills at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Overhills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Western Harnett likes a good challenge.
