The Section Lions lost against the North Sand Mountain Bison back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Section was dealt a 51-7 loss at the hands of North Sand Mountain. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Section in their matchups with North Sand Mountain: they've now lost seven in a row.
The team won by holding Section to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to North Sand Mountain's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Cruz Yates and Myles Gottmann who racked up five sacks between them.
Section's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for North Sand Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Section will be playing in front of their home fans against Pisgah on Friday. Pisgah knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Section likes a good challenge. As for North Sand Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Collinsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Collinsville is ranked 282nd, while North Sand Mountain is ranked 294th).
