The Valencia Jaguars won the last time they faced the Santa Teresa Desert Warriors, and things went their way on Saturday too. Valencia strolled past Santa Teresa with points to spare, taking the game 68-52. The win made it back-to-back wins for Valencia.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valencia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damian Estrada, who scored 23 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Estrada has scored at least 25% of Valencia's points. Diego Baeza was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, Santa Teresa still got an impressive performance from Sergio Ricario, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ricario scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ebani Ochoa, who scored nine points.
Valencia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Santa Teresa, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Valencia and Centennial will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Centennial is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.5 points per game. Santa Teresa will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Da Vinci at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
