POWAY, Calif. - A big 28-point first quarter helped carry the Titans to a 35-13 victory over
Carlsbad (Calif.) on Saturday.
Poway scored on a
Nehemiah Gross touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Conor Flanagan, a Gross touchdown run and a punt return touchdown by
Ryan Sharpe in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Gross in the first quarter, PHS led 35-0 at the half.
With the win the Titans extended their winning streak to five games. Poway defeated the Wolverines 45-0 last week.
Christian Chapman made a difference for the Lancers. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to two on the year.
Gross stood out for PHS in the win. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
The Titans had given up an average of 9.1 points prior to the contest. The 13 points that Carlsbad ended with were well below its average of 20.3 coming into the game.
A 31-13 Poway victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
Poway (7-2) goes up against Rancho Bernardo in a Palomar game matchup next week, while Carlsbad (3-6) locks horns with Vista in a Avocado - West game.
