The Anahuac Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Buna 61-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Anahuac has suffered against Buna since January 12, 2021.
Buna's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brynn Branch, who scored 23 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Branch has scored all season. Jaiden Epps was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Anahuac has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season. As for Buna, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-8.
Anahuac will head out on the road to challenge Hardin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hardin will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Buna will take on Kountze at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Kountze is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
