After flying high against the Conestoga Cougars last Friday, The Mead Raiders came back down to earth. Mead had to suffer through a rough 78-6 loss at the hands of Stanton. Mead was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 64-6.
Mason Reed threw for 85 yards on six of 14 attempts. Tristan Zwiener was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Hayden Goebel rushed for 33 yards.
Stanton was led to victory by Becker Pohlman and Barrett Wilke. Pohlman gained 194 total yards and three touchdowns, while Wilke rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Wilke is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mitchell Hupp, who picked up 133 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Mead's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Stanton, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Mead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stanton will play host again and welcome Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. One thing working in Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four games.
