Even though the South Hagerstown Rebels scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, the Williamsport Wildcats still came out on top. Williamsport narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past South Hagerstown 59-57. This was payback for Williamsport, who suffered a 65-52 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Williamsport to victory were Jalen Coleman and Ceonta Wilmore. Coleman scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Wilmore scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wilmore has scored at least a third of Williamsport's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corry Nelson Jr, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Williamsport's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for South Hagerstown, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williamsport has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Tuscarora at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Tuscarora is coming into the matchup with six straight defeats on the road, meaning Williamsport will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for South Hagerstown, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against GVCS Broadfording at 7:00 p.m.
