The Stanton Blue Devils scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They came out on top against West Nassau by a score of 79-70. Given Stanton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while West Nassau is ranked 745th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stanton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raza Cottey, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Christian Ricks was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six steals.
Stanton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for West Nassau, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Stanton will be home for the holidays to greet Interlachen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Nassau, they will head out on the road to face off against Middleburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
