After a string of four wins, the Pima Roughriders's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Blue Ridge by a score of 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Pima has suffered yet this season.
Pima's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Wiltbank, who scored eight points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ady Hoopes, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Pima's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Blue Ridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Pima will be playing in front of their home fans against Tombstone at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Tombstone will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Pima is ranked 24th). Blue Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Payson at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Payson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Tuesday.
