The Moundridge Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Sedgwick Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Moundridge is looking to tack on another W to their 12-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Moundridge stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on Trinity with a sharp 72-46 victory. Given Moundridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Trinity is ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moundridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bear Moddelmog, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Moddelmog has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Kaizer Kanitz was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Sedgwick came into Friday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged Inman out 30-27. The victory was just what Sedgwick needed coming off of a 55-23 loss in their prior match.
Moundridge's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-3. As for Sedgwick, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12.
Moundridge strolled past Sedgwick in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 47-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moundridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
