Burley and Mountain Home are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Bobcats will square off against the Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Burley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Marsh Valley, who was ranked 17th at the time (Burley was ranked 24th). The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Eagles on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Braxton Warr and Ike Redder made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Warr pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Redder pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Warr a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, Warr scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Redder scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jake Redder was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Mack Haynes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Mountain Home came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 21-6 win. The game marked the Tigers' most dominant victory of the season.
Mountain Home got a massive performance out of Tre Morse, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Rylan Luther, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Mountain Home kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.
Mountain Home's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Burley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Burley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Mountain Home struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Burley couldn't quite finish off Mountain Home in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
