The West Elk Patriots were the 63-34 winner over the Udall Eagles when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. West Elk took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Udall on Tuesday. West Elk has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Udall was led to victory by Emma Alberts and Lilly Hoffman. Alberts scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, while Hoffman went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 0 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hoffman has scored at least a third of Udall's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayl Knapp, who scored nine points along with two steals.
West Elk's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Udall, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Elk will square off against Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Caldwell is coming into the game with seven straight losses at home, meaning West Elk will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Udall, they will head out on the road to challenge Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Udall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
