After seven games on the road, Lone Oak is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Rains Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Lone Oak will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 911th, while Rains is ranked 41st).
Last Tuesday, Lone Oak was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 31-25 to Grand Saline.
Meanwhile, Rains scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Prairiland for the full four quarters, racking up a 94-19 victory at home. Rains might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight contests by 34 points or more this season.
Rains' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasey Campbell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Campbell posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Presley Kilgore, who scored 22 points along with three steals.
Lone Oak's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Rains, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.
Things could have been worse for Lone Oak, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-32 loss to Rains when the teams last played back in January. Can Lone Oak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
