Softball Recap: Moriarty Wins Going Away Against Pojoaque Valley

Moriarty's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes with a sharp 15-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pintos, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Isabella Gallegos made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Sienna Rios was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Ainsley Milligan, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Moriarty's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Pojoaque Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moriarty will head out to square off against Los Alamos at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pojoaque Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Espanola Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Sundevils will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
