Plainview is 9-0 against Marietta since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Plainview Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Marietta Indians at 6:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Plainview's favor as the squad sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Marietta has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
Last Tuesday, Plainview strolled past Madill with points to spare, taking the game 48-29.
Plainview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emilee Hedger led the charge by scoring 21 points along with two steals. Hedger continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jacelyn Hammon, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Marietta suffered a tough 40-20 loss at the hands of Byng on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marietta in their matchups with Byng: they've now lost six in a row.
Plainview's win bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Marietta, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Plainview against Marietta in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 59-30 win. Will Plainview repeat their success, or does Marietta have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
