Basketball Recap: Natasha Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eagle's Landing Christian Academy over Mcdonough

Eagle's Landing Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a hard 58-44 fall against the McDonough Warhawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-23 back in December of 2024.

Eagle's Landing Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natasha Smith, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Smith now owns an excellent 45.6% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Jazmine Lopez, who posted 14 points along with six boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Eagle's Landing Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McDonough to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamiyah Rembert, who put up 23 points. Amira Carter was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Eagle's Landing Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for McDonough, they pushed their record up to 9-16 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Coincidentally, Eagle's Landing Christian Academy and McDonough will both be playing Hampton the next time they take the court. Eagle's Landing Christian Academy will head out to face Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while McDonough will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
