Shyla Wiley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Florida State University High School saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Presnell, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, North Florida Christian got themselves on the board against Hamilton County on Friday, but Hamilton County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 16-0 victory. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynlee Pafford, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Reese Sparkman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
North Florida Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Florida State University High School's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for North Florida Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
