The Middle Park Panthers were the 28-22 winner over the Platte Canyon Huskies when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Middle Park was dealt a 46-6 defeat at the hands of Platte Canyon on Friday. Middle Park was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-6.
Jacob Trail punched in a rushing score. On the ground, Lucas Conger rushed for 65 yards.
Platte Canyon had a senior duo take command as Sam Patterson rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns and Kamron Skouge rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Patterson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Middle Park to a paltry 128 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Platte Canyon's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Middle Park's QB won't forget Ian Twaddell anytime soon given Twaddell sacked him four times.
Middle Park has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Platte Canyon, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-1.
Middle Park will head out on the road to face off against Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clear Creek is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Platte Canyon, they will be playing at home against Strasburg at 1:00 p.m. on October 28th. Strasburg is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
