Halifax Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karson Ricks out in front who had ten aces and three digs. With that strong performance, Ricks is now averaging an impressive 2.3 aces per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessa Pope, who had six aces and three digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Halifax Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 26 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 16 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ridgecroft hadn't done well against Pungo Christian Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rams walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Raiders. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The victory didn't come easy: Pungo Christian Academy scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18.
Ridgecroft's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Halifax Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Halifax Academy has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 15.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Ridgecroft struggles in that department as they've been averaging 15.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
