Hilliard Darby barely beat Upper Arlington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Golden Bears with a sharp 16-8 victory on Friday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Lorelai Gum was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Cahill, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Hilliard Darby kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 18 consecutive contests.

Hilliard Darby's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-6. As for Upper Arlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-16.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Hilliard Darby will host Pickerington Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Upper Arlington, they will venture away from home to take on Central Crossing at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
