The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past Intermountain Christian with points to spare, taking the game 64-48. With that win, Merit Preparatory Academy brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Merit Preparatory Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ayden Martinez, who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martinez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Miles Petersen, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Intermountain Christian still got an impressive performance from Keaton Okino, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Okino continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Dillon Cook was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Merit Preparatory Academy's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-12. As for Intermountain Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Merit Preparatory Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Intermountain Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Intermountain Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for they, they will head out on the road to square off against Merit Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Merit Preparatory Academy is ranked 136th, while Intermountain Christian is ranked 138th).
