Softball Recap: The Meadows School Has No Trouble Against Sunrise Mountain

The matchup between The Meadows School and Sunrise Mountain on Friday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Mustangs blew past the Miners 23-6. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 12 runs or more this season.

The Meadows School got a massive performance out of Courtney Fonte, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most runs Fonte has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Rosenstein, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

The Meadows School hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

The Meadows School has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Sunrise Mountain, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, The Meadows School will welcome Sports Leadership & Management at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulls will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will square off against Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
