After flying high against the Mulberry Grove Aces last Thursday, the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins came back down to earth. Father McGivney Catholic took a 39-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Metro-East Lutheran. Father McGivney Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Metro-East Lutheran apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Father McGivney Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Keller, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Noah Garner, who scored six points along with three steals.
Father McGivney Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Metro-East Lutheran, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10.
Father McGivney Catholic will square off against Marquette Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Metro-East Lutheran and Maryville Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Maryville Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
