Even though the Mountain Island Charter Raptor scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, the Christ the King Crusaders still came out on top. Christ the King walked away with a 67-57 win over Mountain Island Charter. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Christ the King also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Christ the King got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Ryan out in front who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Ryan has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last six times he's played. Marco Tampoya was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Despite the defeat, Mountain Island Charter saw an underclassman step up: Christan Jones scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Hill, who scored 11 points.
Christ the King's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Mountain Island Charter, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christ the King will take on Bradford Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Christ the King is coming into the match with three straight victories on the road, meaning Bradford Prep will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Mountain Island Charter, they will challenge Pine Lake Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Island Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 games -- so hopefully Pine Lake Prep likes a good challenge.
