If the Walton Warriors were feeling good off their 57-20 takedown of the Margaretville Central Blue Devils on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Walton might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Unatego an easy 55-31 win. It was the first time this season that Walton let down their fans at home.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grace Walley, who scored 12 points along with three steals. The match was Walley's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Williams, who scored five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Walton's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. As for Unatego, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Walton will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Sullivan West at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Sullivan West is ranked 154th, while Walton is ranked 138th). Unatego is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Whitesboro at 3:30 p.m. on December 27th.
