Rootstown is 9-1 against the Wildcats since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Rootstown Rovers will head out on the road to take on the Mogadore Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Rootstown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged Aquinas out 58-55. Given Rootstown's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Knights are ranked 574th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nadia Lough continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn McIntyre, who scored eight points along with nine steals and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mogadore strolled past the Rockets with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 39-21.
Rootstown's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Mogadore, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-10.
Everything came up roses for Rootstown against the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 69-22 win. With Rootstown ahead 42-17 at the half, the match was all but over already.
