The Stone Tomcats will head out on the road to take on the Gautier Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
After a string of three wins, Stone's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 80-18 loss at the hands of Laurel. Stone was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-7.
Meanwhile, Gautier came up short against the Tomcats on Tuesday and fell 33-25. Gautier has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Stone's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Gautier, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.
Stone was able to grind out a solid victory over the Gators when the teams last played on Tuesday, winning 33-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stone since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
