The Wayne Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Greenfield Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Wayne Christian sitting on six straight wins and Greenfield on nine.
Wayne Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Liberty Christian Academy 16-1 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

Nate Peck was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Wayne Christian is 6-2 when Peck posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jake Anderson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Lane, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Wayne Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Greenfield won against Arendell Parrott Academy on Monday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Knights beat the Patriots by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-1.
Simon Quinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tristan Stancil was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mack Wiggins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Greenfield pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Wayne Christian, their record is now 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wayne Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greenfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wayne Christian might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Greenfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
