Apollo had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt West Albany on Saturday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 9-2 win. Considering the Hawks have won five games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Apollo got a great performance from Emiliano Rodriguez as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over six innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rey Garcia, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Holguin, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Apollo's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for West Albany, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
