Magee (Miss.) scored 28 points in the first quarter to secure a big 42-0 victory over Richland (Miss.) on Saturday.
The Trojans rushed for four touchdowns on the ground during the quarter, including one by
Steven McNair.
The lead that Magee took on a McNair touchdown run with 11:00 to go in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
A 28-point first quarter set the table for MHS, which coasted the rest of the way for the victory.
McNair stood out for the Trojans in the win. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
Magee came in allowing an average of 25.3 points per game this season. MHS held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Rangers below the 3.9 points it had been averaging per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Trojans came away with a 35-0 victory.
With the win Magee extended its winning streak to three games.
Magee (5-2) will play a 4A Region 6 game against Port Gibson next week, while Richland (0-8) will take on Collins in a non-conference game.
