Basketball Recap: St. Paul Sets Scoring Season-High Against Serra

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Paul). They blew past the Serra Cavaliers, posting a 96-67 victory. Given the Swordsmen's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 532nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win was the fourth in a row for St. Paul, bringing their record for this year to 15-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Serra, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Paul will welcome St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Paul has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Serra, they will host St. Anthony at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Anthony knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Serra likes a good challenge.
