Basketball Recap: Leake Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Wayne Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leake Academy). They breezed by the Wayne Academy Jaguars to the tune of 74-31 on Thursday. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Leake Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Prince, who went 7 for 12 en route to 17 points and four steals. That's the most points Prince has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Allen, who posted ten points along with five assists and five boards.

Leake Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Leake Academy's win bumped their record up to 26-1. As for Wayne Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-20.

Leake Academy will challenge Newton at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wayne Academy, they will square off against East Rankin Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
