The Mt. Carmel Sundevils pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 73-57 fall against Rancho Buena Vista. Mt. Carmel has struggled against Rancho Buena Vista recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Mt. Carmel's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raymond Hourani, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Milder, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Rancho Buena Vista found their leader in underclassman Cj Aldrich, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Aldrich hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Ayden Horn was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Rancho Buena Vista, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 21-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Fallbrook at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Fallbrook has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 320 points over their last five games. As for Rancho Buena Vista, they will head out on the road to face off against Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vista is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Rancho Buena Vista a 12-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
