It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Valley Vikings ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Artesia and snuck past 38-36. The team ran away with 28 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Valley was led to victory by Julian Chavez and Rosendo Roybal. Chavez scored 11 points along with three steals, while Roybal scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Roybal scored 15 or more points.
Valley pushed their record up to 5-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Artesia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Navajo Prep at 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday. Navajo Prep will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Artesia and Cleveland will face off at 9:45 a.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
