On Friday, the Layton Lancers faced the Farmington Phoenix in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Layton snuck past Farmington with a 81-77 victory. Winning may never get old, but Layton sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Layton to victory, but perhaps none more so than KJ Miller, who scored 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Miller also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Mekhi Martin was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six assists.
Layton pushed their record up to 15-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for Farmington, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Layton will take on Weber at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Weber's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 games. As for Farmington, they will be playing at home against Davis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Davis is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.6 points per game.
