The Mansfield Timberview Wolves entered their tilt with the Midlothian Panthers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Mansfield Timberview came out on top in a nail-biter against Midlothian on Wednesday and snuck past 42-39. Given Mansfield Timberview's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Midlothian is ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christian Jones was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 19 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lewis Sotelo, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Midlothian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Gilmore, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Bryce Tennison was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Mansfield Timberview pushed their record up to 21-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Midlothian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-10.
Mansfield Timberview will be playing in front of their home fans against Burleson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Midlothian, they will head out on the road to challenge Seguin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
