The Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 58-27 victory over Englewood. With Eagle Ridge Academy ahead 35-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Eagle Ridge Academy found their leader in underclassman Aiden Wanrow, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Pendleton, who scored 4 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 steals.
Englewood's loss came despite strong showings from Jonah Singer and Dominic Dever. Singer scored 13 points, while Dever scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds. Dever scored a full 29.6% of Englewood's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Eagle Ridge Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Englewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Eagle Ridge Academy will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Silver Creek at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Silver Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday. As for Englewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Aurora Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
