Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Northridge's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Northridge hasn't had much luck on the road recently (they'd lost four straight) but thanks in part to Sophia Carbajal that streak is no more. The Northridge Grizzlies secured a 59-54 W over the Severance Silver Knights on Tuesday thanks in part to Carbajal, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 16 times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Clementine Darnell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave her a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, Severance saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zoey Smith dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for Smith. Molly Sporleder was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

Northridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Severance, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Northridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-31 victory against Berthoud on the 24th. Severance has also already played their next match, a 58-50 win against Greeley Central on the 24th.
