Incarnate Word Academy head coach Dan Rolfes said the streak isn't always in forefront of his team's mind, but it is always present.
"I think our kids are use to playing with a lot of pressure, with state
championship and tournament championship games," Rolfes said. "I think for this one, they felt
pressure not just for our team but teams in the previous years. They didn't want to let the program down. They know this win was for every kid who has put on an Incarnate uniform."
Rolfes said he knows the streak will one day end.
"I'll look at the girls and say 'Let’s get 139 more.'" Rolfes said. "No one wants to lose, but there’s obviously huge lessons in every victory and every defeat. If it makes us better and helps us to our ultimate goal, winning a state title, then we have to learn from it."
