The Anclote Sharks's six-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They walked away with a 48-40 win over Tarpon Springs. The victory was just what Anclote needed coming off of a 46-17 defeat in their prior match.
Several Spongers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emily Cartier, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylena Bedford, who scored 11 points.
Anclote's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Tarpon Springs, they bumped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anclote won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Land O' Lakes at 6:30 p.m. on January 18th. Land O' Lakes presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Anclote in Florida (Land O' Lakes is ranked 157th, while Anclote is ranked 498th). As for Tarpon Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Seminole at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
