Thomas County Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Pierce County Bears. For the Yellow Jackets, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2023.

Thomas County Central had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-21, 17-15.

Coincidentally, Thomas County Central and Pierce County will both be playing Valdosta the next time they take the court. The Bears will head out to face the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Yellow Jackets will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
