Basketball Recap: Pyramid Lake Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Myron Rivers and Rylen Patrick

Pyramid Lake fought the good fight in their overtime match against Smith Valley on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 73-66 to the Smith Valley Bulldogs. The Lakers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Pyramid Lake's loss came despite strong showings from Rylen Patrick and Myron Rivers. Patrick went 8 for 17 on his way to 23 points and three steals, while Rivers posted 18 points. The dominant performance also gave Rivers a new career-high in assists (four). Cash Hall was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Pyramid Lake's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-7. As for Smith Valley, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Pyramid Lake will welcome Mineral County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mineral County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season. As for Smith Valley, they are taking a road trip to square off against Virginia City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Virginia City's defense has only allowed 27 points per game this season, so Smith Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
