Lariah Avila made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Elizabeth Ram?rez and Sofia Barcelo did most of the damage at the plate: Ram?rez went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Barcelo went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Ram?rez has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Angelica Rincon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
United Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, California Lutheran got the win against La Sierra Academy last Tuesday by a conclusive 17-3. The C-Hawks haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Sofiia Klochkova was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Neleh Boehm was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
United Christian Academy pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for California Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. United Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like California Lutheran struggles in that department as they've averaged .517. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went United Christian Academy's way against California Lutheran when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as United Christian Academy made off with a 15-7 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the C-Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
