The Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers lost to the Morningside Academy Eagles last Thursday, but the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers didn't allow the Morningside Academy Eagles the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Melbourne Central Catholic secured a 31-25 W over Morningside Academy.
Melbourne Central Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ahjanae Momperousse, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and seven blocks. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Teeter, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Morningside Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emmilina Miller. Despite the final result, she scored nine points along with five assists and four steals. Miller is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Giuliana Bonasera, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds.
Melbourne Central Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Morningside Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Melbourne Central Catholic's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Edgewood at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. Morningside Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Jupiter Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Jupiter Christian: 25, Morningside Academy: 26.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
